Professional Travel Insurance Company Limited ('PTI') was formed in 1989 and began by writing the global travel and personal accident programme for the International Airline Passengers Association on behalf of its members.

Over the following years we have added the insurance portfolios of a number of travel and international sector service providers.

PTI was the founder member of the Association of Gibraltar Insurers and Managers, now known as the Gibraltar Insurance Association, which seeks to ensure that the highest standards of insurance and business practices are adhered to in Gibraltar.

In 1995 we completed the purchase of Columbus Direct in London, which is one of the leading UK insurance brands providing us with direct access and control of a significant UK based underwriting portfolio

In 1997, The Collinson Group Limited, a London based company acquired PTI. The Collinson Group has a turnover of $183 million (2006/7) and has offices worldwide including Gibraltar, Eindhoven, Zurich, Cape Town, Dubai, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, San Francisco and Dallas, The international network and financial strength of The Collinson Group provided the resources to support the expansion of PTI into new products and markets. The Collinson Group continues to establish offices in other key locations across the world.
